Clinical trials in pulmonology

Pulmonology: advanced treatment thanks to clinical trials

Pulmonology is a specialization dealing with diagnostics and treatment of respiratory system diseases, both of a chronic and acute character. The most common indications include: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, chronic cough, and lower respiratory tract infections.
Many patients, despite treatment, still experience limitations in daily functioning, lower effort tolerance, shortness of breath or decreased quality of life. This shows how important continuous development of new therapeutic strategies is.

Why are clinical trials in pulmonology so important?

Clinical trials in pulmonology play an important role in the development of effective and safe therapies for patients with respiratory diseases. Thanks to them, it is possible to study modern anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator agents characterized by prolonged action and a more favourable safety profile. They also include biological therapies intended for people with severe bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
